01

Keep a careful chronology

Save school or program communications, health-office records, photographs, witness names, activity details, equipment information, and the sequence of medical care. Avoid publishing a child’s private information.

02

Identify who operated the program

A public district, charter operator, private school, contractor, sports organization, municipality, or equipment company may control different records and face different procedures.

03

Treat notice periods as urgent research

Claims involving a public school or municipality may require an administrative notice before a lawsuit and may use a shorter period than an ordinary injury claim. Exceptions and immunities are state-specific.
